Baubles are often thought of as "Christmas baubles," or even "Christmas ornaments," and indeed, that is the best way to get an image of them in your mind. Baubles originally hung from the end of the court jester's mock scepter, and the word subsequently came to refer to an object that is silly, trivial, or worthless. The shape lent its name to Christmas decorations which were hung from Christmas trees as the original baubles hung from the jester's scepter. Ironically, once they began to be used as Christmas decorations, baubles began to be crafted with care, beauty and expertise. Today, Christmas baubles are some of the most beautiful decorations people have in their homes.
While it is still true that baubles are displayed most often at Christmas, they do not have to be restricted to Christmas time. Hand painted or blown glass baubles are proudly displayed as works of art in many homes. Whether your business decides to use baubles for Christmas or not, there is no denying that they can make beautiful gifts for employees, customers and clients alike.
Christmas
Christmas is, of course, an ideal time to hand out baubles. Even those who do not celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday still enjoy decorating their workspace with Christmas decorations, and usually have a Christmas tree at home as well. There are promotional companies who either carry a variety of baubles or actually specialize in creating custom-made baubles personalized for your company or organization. Christmas baubles with your company's logo stylized to fit the season, perhaps imprinted with the year, make excellent gifts for employees and good advertisement for your company. You might even consider decorating your company's Christmas tree with baubles that bear your logo.
Other Occasions
There are many benefits to giving baubles to customers and employees at times other than Christmas. There are many other occasions throughout the year when celebratory decorations are appropriate. Easter baubles in soft pastel colors or Independence Day baubles in red, white and blue would be a unique and cheerful gift. Some companies include baubles in gift baskets given out at other times of the year, such as baby gift baskets that include a gender-appropriate bauble, or wedding gift baskets that include a white or gold bauble announcing the couple's wedding date.
Whether you promote your business with baubles or not, you can have any image applied to any bauble. A company logo, a motto or website, or even a photograph can be applied to your bauble for a beautiful look. In fact, some promoters suggest that if you are unveiling a new logo or a new look for your marketing campaign, a Christmas or New Year's bauble could be the first release of the new look for the new year. Another landmark celebration would be your organization's anniversary, which could be commemorated by a special bauble designed just for that occasion. They also make excellent, inexpensive favors and decorations at banquets or other large-scale gatherings.
